Challenge

The Secretary of Mobility sought to improve the quality of life for citizens commuting in various ways across Bogotá. Our specific challenge was to devise strategies to boost walking as a mode of mobility in the city.

Approach

We approached this challenge through a design process rooted in co-creation. By engaging with dog walkers in parks and others impacted by this activity, we gathered diverse insights into the cultural, ritualistic, and practical aspects of walking with pets. This understanding informed the development of our strategy.

As part of our co-creation process, we used the probe method, followed by a focus group.

Outcome

  • Developed "SerCanía", a strategy aimed at promoting foot mobility for individuals seeking quality time with canines, without the need for dog ownership.

  • Established a web application platform for dog sponsorship, bringing together foundations and recognized brands in pet food, clothing, and toys.

  • Created various activities designed to increase the average person's step count.

  • Enabled participants to reap additional benefits of walking, like improved health and emotional stability, facilitated by the app's monitoring capabilities and the support of sponsors.
